Performance information is provided for vCenter, SCVMM and AWS cloud accounts (managed systems). For vCenter and AWS, the last seven days of performance information is retrieved when the cloud account (managed system) is added to vCommander®. For SCVMM, because historical performance data cannot be retrieved from the cloud account (managed system), vCommander waits to obtain seven days' worth of performance data from SCVMM before generating a performance summary.

Information about VM performance is updated automatically by vCommander every night. You can also manually update performance information for individual VMs to include the latest data in the performance summary.

vSphere

When performance information is not available for vCenter VMs, you must first understand that the performance charts tab provided for each VM, host and clusters display the same performance graphs that are displayed in VMware vSphere. Therefore, the graphs you see are dependent on whether or not realtime graphs have been selected in vSphere.

The performance graphs are loaded the first time you click the Performance Charts tab for the selected VM, host or cluster, and they default to the time interval of one hour.

If performance graphs are not available in Embotics® vCommander™, follow the procedure below.

  1. Login to the vCenter server.
  2. From the Start menu, issue the command services.msc.

  3. From the list of services, right-click VMware VirtualCenter Management Webservices and choose Start (if the service is stopped) or Restart (if the service is started).

Manually Updating Performance

Information about VM performance is updated automatically by vCommander every night. For vCenter, performance information is retrieved when the cloud account (managed system) is added to vCommander. For SCVMM, because historical data cannot be retrieved from the cloud account (managed system), vCommander gathers seven days’ worth of performance data before generating a performance summary.

To view the latest performance summary information for a VM:

  1. Right-click a VM in the tree or a list-grid, and choose Performance > Update Performance.
  2. When the Task completes, switch to the VM’s Performance tab to review the current information.

Check Update Performance History

You can filter the events for a manage system to check for recent success or failure to retrieve performance metrics.

  1. With either the top-level of the Operational view tree or a cloud account (managed system) selected, switch to the Events tab.
  2. Click Show Advanced Filters and choose Type > contains > Update.
