Embotics® vCommander® uses a Windows service named vCommander to operate. Like many Windows services, Embotics vCommander runs under the context of a user. You can use either a local account on the Embotics vCommander server or a Domain account.

Whichever type of account you use, the account must have administrator access on VMs you wish to scan for guest OS details, unless you have overridden the scan options.

Using a Local Account

If you are installing Embotics vCommander using the default PostgreSQL database, the local account cannot be an Administrator, due to security best practices imposed by PostgreSQL.

Additionally, using a local account requires that the account be configured with the options password never expires and user cannot change password. Clear the User must change password at next login checkbox before you begin installing Embotics vCommander.
